Cratebox is a desktop app that runs on your Mac. Your downloads, links, and files stay on your device — we don’t collect or transmit them.
What we process
When you buy a license, Stripe processes your email and payment details, and our licensing server uses your email to issue and validate a license key. License validation contacts our server with your license key and an anonymous device identifier so we can enforce device limits and your updates window. We don’t see your card details.
Free trial
On first launch, Cratebox starts your 14-day trial by contacting our trial server. It sends an anonymous device identifier (a one-way, salted hash computed on your Mac — the hardware ID itself never leaves your device), your Mac’s computer name (as set in System Settings), the app version, platform and macOS version, and the trial’s start, end and last-seen dates. We use this to run the trial (including preventing trial resets), to provide support, and to count how many devices are trying Cratebox. No email is required for the trial: we store an email address only if you choose to leave it in the app, or if you request a discount code after your trial expires — in which case we use it to send you that one code.

cratebox.app uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) to count visits. No personal profiles, no ad tracking.
