A6 Questions
Good to know.
01 Is this legal?
Cratebox is a general-purpose downloader. Downloading content you own, have rights to, or that is licensed for download is fine; respecting copyright and YouTube’s terms is your responsibility. We don’t host or distribute any content.
02 Is there a free trial?
Yes — Cratebox includes a 14-day free trial with full download access, no card required. When the trial ends, search, history, and settings keep working; downloading needs a license.
03 What do I get for €24.99?
Yearly subscription granting a perpetual license to covered versions, with one year of updates. Cancel anytime to stop future charges and retain the right to use covered versions. Downloads depend on YouTube and other external services. Changes to those services may require an app update.
04 What happens when my year ends?
Your subscription renews yearly unless you cancel. If you cancel, you retain the license to versions covered by your update window. Downloads depend on YouTube and other external services. Changes to those services may require an app update.
05 Can I keep using Cratebox if I don’t renew?
Yes. You retain the right to use versions covered by your license. Renewing extends access to newer versions. Downloads depend on YouTube and other external services. Changes to those services may require an app update.
06 Which version can I reinstall later?
You can reinstall and re-activate any version released within your update window. Versions published after it need a renewal — the app points you to your latest covered version.
07 Which Macs are supported?
macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon (M1 and newer). Signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.
08 Do you offer refunds?
Yes. Email us within 14 days of an initial purchase or renewal charge to request a full refund.
09 Do I need to install yt-dlp or ffmpeg?
Cratebox manages yt-dlp and uses ffmpeg for audio conversion. Initial setup requires an internet connection. If ffmpeg is missing, follow the installation instructions in the app, then retry setup. If setup cannot finish, contact support for help.
