Use a working folder for each batch, check the files before importing them into another application, and keep an untouched copy of important source material.
Choose a destination you can find again
In Cratebox Settings, use Browse to choose your download folder. Give the folder a purpose you recognise, such as a rehearsal, a collection or a date. Keep downloads separate from any folder that another application manages automatically.
Choose the format before queuing tracks
Use one file to test your format choice first. The MP3 and M4A guide explains the differences you need to consider. Match your choice to the software and equipment you use.
Select what you need from a playlist
- Paste a YouTube playlist link into Cratebox.
- Review the available entries and select the tracks you want.
- Check the selected count before adding them to the queue.
- Review completed, skipped and failed items. Retry a failed item after addressing the error shown.
A playlist entry may be unavailable or restricted at the source. A title in the list does not guarantee that the corresponding media can be downloaded.
Review filenames and metadata
Cratebox uses source metadata and title cleanup. That can give you a starting point, but source titles can include version names, promotional text or an incomplete artist credit. Check title, artist, version and duration against the source before you rely on them.
Make any further tag changes in a metadata editor of your choice. Cratebox does not provide an in-app tag editor, BPM analysis, musical-key analysis or automatic loudness matching.
Test playback, then import
Open the finished files from the download folder. Listen to the beginning and end, verify duration and audition transitions where they matter. Import a small batch into your target application before moving a whole collection.
Cratebox saves local files; it does not sync crates or playlists directly into DJ software. Keep backups before reorganising an existing library.
Use sources you are allowed to download
Work with your own uploads, a source that explicitly permits downloading, or material for which you have the necessary permission. Cratebox does not supply permission to use someone else’s recording.
New to the app? Follow the Mac installation guide, then start with a small test batch.
